Namaste Nomad are the first to introduce Himalayan Style Trekking Tours to Ireland, and we’re running them here at our base in Co. Donegal. Donegal is the most northerly County in Ireland and is a significant part of the Wild Atlantic Way. It boasts many natural wonders including some of Europe’s highest sea cliffs, Ireland’s most iconic mountain, an island with it’s own King and one of the longest rivers in Ireland. It is a county steeped in history and rich in culture, with many of Ireland’s greatest artists finding their inspiration here. Pristine secluded beaches and endless rolling hills make this an ideal destination for any nature enthusiast.

We travel like Nomads by foot or boat to a new destination each day and enjoy activities such as Trekking, Climbing and Kayaking. Accommodation is camping and all gear including tents are provided and set up at our camps each day before we arrive. Our staff also cook you delicious, locally sourced fresh food and transport your luggage to each destination. This is a unique and exciting one-of-a-kind tour in the heart of Donegal guided by a team of local guides and Namaste Nomads lead Himalayan Mountain guide -Mohan.

Day 1:Welcome
Arrival in Donegal, check in to campsite, evening briefing with dinner and music.
Day 2: Into The Wild
We start our trek today from Crolly to Dunlewey, through Dunlewy forest and along the lake, stopping for lunch at the lakeside centre. Then we trek to our new camp site for our first night Wild Camping (2 hrs) over the Poison Glen. Evening dinner in wild campsite.
Day 3: Trekking
We start early morning with a Sunrise Errigal hike (751m). We return to camp for our breakfast before return to our trekking again. Next it’s a 4 hour trek through  Glenveagh National Park via The Poison Glen. Wild camp for the night with dinner.
Day 4: Inland Activities
After breakfast we trek from Glenveigh to Gartan (1.5 hours). We kayak on beautiful Gartan Lake then stop for a wholesome lunch at Gartan centre. Next we get our climbing gear on for a bit of wall climbing. The bus brings us back to Crolly in the evening, checking back into our original campsite accommodation for hot showers & amenities.
Day 5:To the Island
Today we’re kayaking in the Wild Atlantic Ocean to our nest destination – Gola Island where we’ll be camping wild for the night. Gola became an unhabited island in 1996 but has recently seen the return of people staying in summer. The small island is birthplace of renowned writer, Seán ‘ac Fhionnlaoich and was the inspiration behind the classic children’s song Baidin Fheilimi. In typical Himalayan style our camp is always set up before us with our team busy preparing our next meal. We enjoy a trek around the island before settling down for the evening.
Day 6:Climbing Sea Cliffs
After breakfast at our wild campsite on Gola Island, we kayak back to shore where we dry off with a trek around Cruit Island – an island connected to the mainland via bridge. We then hook into our climbing gear for a bit of rock climbing on Cruit’s rugged coast. Evening we return to our local campsite and farewell dinner and music in local pub.
