Sikkim is a tiny Indian state and ex Himalayan kingdom nestled in the North East of the subcontinent, between Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. It is one of the most varied and beautiful states in India. Orchids, Lilies, Rhododendrons and several other beautiful flowers cloth mountain-sides and valleys in colour. Prayer flags flutter from Buddhist monasteries, sending prayers on the wind. Mount Khangchendzonga, the world’s third-highest mountain (8598m), stands sentinel over the entire state.
The people of Sikkim are an ethical blend of several ethnic communities. Lepchas and Bhutias of Tibetan origin, Nepalis and Indian people have contributed towards the unique culture, tradition and way of life of Sikkim.
