Taking off for Everest
Namaste Nomad’s Everest Base Camp Trek 09.16 is underway. Two from the group have already arrived and are with Mohan, Namaste Nomad’s trip leader, in Kathmandu. Postcards are being bought, Nepali food is being tasted, and the wonderful sights and sounds of beautiful and bustling Kathmandu are being experienced. The rest of the group (15) will be being picked up by Mohan from Kathmandu airport in a couple of hours @ 8.30 Nepal time. Here they are all set @ Dublin Aiport pre-departure –
Today is the day all 18 group members will be joined together on their quest to conquer Everest Base Camp. The trip begins with tours of Kathmandu city and two nights in Kathmandu at the beautiful Moonlight Hotel. The group will also be meeting with West Nepal Development Trust, our charity partners, for an information evening on the positive work they are doing in Nepal.
This is an exciting trek for many and a lifelong dream come true for others. To get a glimpse of the mighty Everest is one thing, but to set foot on it is another. It is also a particularly exciting trek for Mohan as this will make it his 30th time to Everest Base Camp. Also on our team this year are four Sherpas who have reached the top of Mighty Mt Everest. We’ll be cutting a birthday cake at 5000mtr this year for one group member.
We have people from all corners of the world on this trek but most this year are Irish team members. It wont be long before everyone feels like one big happy family. Wishing everyone the best of luck on this trip – good weather, good health and success to reach Base Camp!
